In the context of a DFG research project the university of Saarbruecken (GER) offers a position for a Ph D student in physics or chemistry, respectively. The topic of the thesis will deal with 'Small Angle Neutron Scattering for the investigation of anorganic colloidal suspensions'. SANS-experiments are planned to investigate the effect of electrosterical stabilization within the colloidal suspensions by the use of index matching techniques. Some prior knowledge in the field of neutron scattering and especially SANS is helpful but not necessary. The main site of location for the candidate to work will be the 'Lab. for Neutron Scattering' at the 'Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI)' close to Zuerich/CH. At present the new swiss spallation neutron source 'SINQ' at the PSI produces its first neutrons (http://www1.psi.ch/www_sinq_hn/Welcome_SINQ.html) and the candidate will be embedded within the infrastucture of an existing large scale facility. The position is first limited to a duration of 2 years, a prolongation for another 3rd year is possible. The payment is according to the ordinary german salary for Ph D students (BAT IIa/2).
