Acta B introduces crystal growth section [posted 06 Sep 2021]  Acta Cryst. B has launched a new section on the growth of crystals of non-biological “small” molecules and those of extended organic, inorganic or hybrid materials, and actively welcomes submissions that match the scope of the journal.
Stanko Popović (1938-2020) [posted 22 Dec 2020]  The death has been announced of Stanko Popović (1938-2020), Professor Emeritus of University of Zagreb and President of the Croatian Crystallographic Association from 2006 to 2017.
2020 Nobel Prize winners [posted 10 Oct 2020]  The IUCr congratulates the winners of the 2020 Nobel Prizes in Chemistry and Physics.
Olga Kennard awarded twelfth Ewald Prize [posted 31 Jul 2020]  The twelfth Ewald Prize has been awarded to Olga Kennard (Cambridge, UK) for her invaluable pioneering contribution to the development of crystallographic databases, in particular the Cambridge Structural Database.
Inaugural W. H. and W. L. Bragg Prize awarded to James Fraser and Jean-Philippe Julien [posted 29 Jul 2020]  The 2020 W. H. and W. L. Bragg Prize for outstanding early-career crystallographers has been jointly awarded to James Fraser and Jean-Philippe Julien.

2020 edition of IUCr Crystal growing competition cancelled [posted 11 May 2020]  Due to the current coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 edition of the IUCr Crystal growing competition has been cancelled.
ACA2020 Annual Meeting moves online [posted 01 May 2020]  After careful consideration of the ongoing spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) both overseas and in the USA, and of resultant government actions, the ACA Council has determined that it is not possible to conduct the ACA2020 Annual Meeting in San Diego, CA, USA, scheduled for 2-7 August 2020. Instead, a virtual meeting will be held in the first week of August 2020.
Melbourne Congress and General Assembly of the IUCr [posted 22 Apr 2020]  Further to the postponement of the Prague IUCr Congress to 2021, it had been hoped to move the Melbourne Congress to 2024. However, attempts to find alternative dates/venues have been unsuccessful so the Melbourne Congress will take place in 2023 as originally planned.
IUCr General Assembly postponed until 2021 [posted 06 Apr 2020]  The IUCr Executive Committee has postponed the General Assembly of the IUCr until 2021.

Covid-19 and the IUCr [posted 18 Mar 2020]

Mitchell Guss honoured in Australia Day 2020 Honours List [posted 28 Jan 2020]  Mitchell Guss, former member of the IUCr Executive Committee and one of the founding Editors of Acta Cryst. F, has been made an Officer (AO) in the General Division of the Order of Australia in the Australia Day Honours List.
