Commission on Crystallography in Art and Cultural Heritage

2015

The Commission continued to pursue the mission of spreading crystallographic knowledge related to artworks and ancient materials. During the first half of 2015 some IYCr2014 actions were continued through the effort of Commission members:

  • Exhibition “IN THE UNUSUAL WORLD OF CRYSTALS”, organized by Alicja Rafalska-Lasocha, was shown in:
  • January - in the Institute of Physical Chemistry PAS, Warsaw
  • February - in the Institute of Physics PAS, Warsaw
  • March-July - at Warsaw University of Technology (shown in several places)

4. The Commission introduced and started to organize the CrysAC workshops: one-day thematic workshops which are planned to be organised each year in different places. Continuing project

Celerino Abad-Zapatero continued collaboration with Mr. Painton Cowen to incorporate scientific content into 'rosewindow' site (http://therosewindow.com/TheRoseWindow2/Rose-numbers.htm)


In 2015 members of the CrysAC Commission (Gilberto Artioli, Alicja Rafalska-Lasocha) were invited to join the International Programme Committee of the XXIV Congress and General Assembly of the IUCr, to be held in Hyderabad in 2017.
