(Note: the name of the Commission was changed, by consent of the 24th General Assembly of the IUCr in Hyderabad, August 2017, to Commission on Quantum Crystallography

An ad interim Commission on Charge, Spin and Momentum Densities was established at the Kyoto General Assembly in 1972 to promote the study and resolution of the factors that limit accuracy in crystallographic studies relating to charge, spin and momentum densities.

The Commission on Charge, Spin and Momentum Densities was established at the Amsterdam General Assembly in 1975.

The Commission focuses on experimental and theoretical work on charge, spin and momentum densities. The aim is to combine experimental techniques, theory and computations to come to a coherent understanding of electronic charge, spin and momentum densities in atoms, molecules and condensed matter.
