POST DOCTORAL POSITION IN PROTEIN-PROTEIN INTERACTION OF MUSCLE
PROTEINS	Structural Biophysics Laboratory RIKEN SPring-8

BL-45XU (funded by RIKEN) is the first undulator SAXS beamline at
SPring-8.
The beamline has been used for the protein solution scattering, the fibre
diffraction from oriented sols of filamentous protein assembly and the
fibre
diffraction from muscle. The successful candidate would be involved in
the
instrumentation of the beamline and the associated aparatus, measurements
and data analysis of the solution scattering and diffraction experiments.
The scientist should also be involved in a project to anlyze the
protein-protein interaction between muscle regulatory proteins troponin-C
and troponin-I, by employing the advanced solution X-ray scattering
system
coupled with a stopped-flow mixer. This project will be undertaken by
close
collaboration with Lab of Structural Biochemistry (lead by Dr. Y.Maeda)
of
RIKEN.

The position starts from July 1999 to Mar. 2002. An extension beyond this
period is possible but not guaranteed.

Ph.D. degrees in science or engineering are preferable. Master's degree
is
also possible.
Previous experiences in measurements at synchrotron X-ray beamlines are
not
required. However strong interests in physics measurements and
instrumentation would be advantageous.

CV, publication list, two reference letters including one written by the
present supervisor of the candidate (each reference letter must be
enclosed
by the author) , reprints of publications (max. three) and a short
description (in an A4 sheet) about the previous research activities and
the
future plan should be sent to Dr. Tetsuro Fujisawa before 31st March,
1999.
