20th International Conference on Crystal Growth and Epitaxy

The 20th edition of the International Conference of Crystal Growth and Epitaxy (ICCGE20) was held at the University Campus of S. Giovanni a Teduccio, Naples, Italy, from 30 July to 4 August 2023. The Conference should have been held in 2022 according to its triennial schedule but due to the pandemic, it was postponed to 2023.

Almost 600 participants from 40 different countries attended, and the presence of female participants was around 35%. Also, the student attendance was significant. All the scientific sessions were well populated.

At the end of the conference, several prizes were awarded:

Frank Prize to Peter Vekilov (University of Houston, TX, USA) and Juan Manuel García-Ruiz (Instituto Andaluz de Ciencias de la Tierra, Granada, Spain) for significant fundamental contributions to the field of crystal growth

Laudise Prize to Peter Rudolph (Crystal Technology Consulting, Schönefeld, Germany) for significant technological contributions to the field of crystal growth

Schieber Prize to Bharat Jalan (University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN, USA) to recognize the outstanding value of his scientific publications in the field of crystal growth

Rostislav Kaishev Prize to Isha Bade (Imperial College London, UK) and Artur Tuktamyshev (University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy) for the best oral presentations by young scientists.

Seven young scientists received IUCr bursaries to support their attendance (see photo below).
