Strategy Session

I wish to correct a minor omission in the announcement of the 1993 ACA meeting in Albuquerque, NM. A session titled "Data Collection Strategies," organized by Joe Reibenspies and myself, was missing from the list of sessions. The program will stress data collection strategies for specific purposes, with emphasis on methods that make the best use of available instruments. The speakers include E. Gabe, H. Hope, W. Robinson, and R. Sparks on topics relating to efficient routine procedures and algorithms for various data collection strategies. P. Rudolf will discuss expert systems, and D. Templeton will present strategies necessary when anomalous dispersion is of concern. The use of area detectors for routine small molecule work will also be addressed by C. Chidester and B. Carrell. The session, scheduled for Tuesday morning, should have broad appeal to professional crystallographers confronted with a growing diversity of problems, especially when the balance between accuracy and speed is critical.
