Coordinating Nature

As of January 1996, the editors of Nature and Nature Structural Biology adopted a policy of deposition of the atomic coordinates for new structures reported in their pages that conforms to the guideline proposed by the IUCr. The editors "retain editorial discretion regarding the requirement for deposition" and outline their position in an editorial in the January 1, 1996 issue. They liken the issue of deposition of atomic coordinates to the rose as being both thorny and perennial.
