Setting the record straight

Dear Dr. Duax,

I was pleased to find a report of the Physical Crystallography Group session at the Cardiff BCA Meeting (IUCr Newsletter, Vol. 4(1), p.12) under the heading "Getting Physical". On reading the piece, I recognized that it had been taken from my meeting report in the BCA Newsletter, but I was surprised to find it attributed to one Pam Jones. Now, my surname is Thomas, a Welsh surname which is the 7th most common in Britain. Jones is also a Welsh surname, and is a commonly occurring English surname too, being the 2nd most prevalent in the UK. Is the Editor aware that this was also my  mother's maiden name or was this choice of nom-de-plume an inspired guess? Secondly, I would like to point our that Z. W. Hu's affiliation should be Warwick and Oxford and not just Oxford - he is sitting in the office next door to me as I write.

Dear Pam,

This was not merely an inspired guess, but almost certainly a manifestation of psychic powers resulting from a lifetime of sitting too close to crystals.
