Advances in Laue diffraction

A paper on the photo dissociation and rebinding of carbon monoxide in myoglobin by Moffat and Co-workers [Science, 274, 1726, 1996] caught the attention of editors of C&E News. In the Dec. 9, 1996 issue they comment that the use of pulsed synchrotron radiation and Laue diffraction to study changes on the nanosecond timescale is "not only a technological tour de force but addresses fundamental issues in understanding how proteins work".
