Sildenafil citrate monohydrate
Acta Cryst. (2005). E61, o489–o491
The name of the anti-impotence drug Viagra is well known to many people, even to those who have nothing to do with chemistry or pharmacology. A number of investigations on this compound, with the pharmaceutical name sildenafil citrate, have already been published. As the knowledge of the molecular conformation is essential for understanding structure–activity relationships, it is surprising that its crystal structure has not been previously reported. This paper closes this gap by reporting the crystal structure of the monohydrate.
