I was happy to see the extended tribute to Paul Ewald in the latest issue of the IUCr Newsletter, and appreciated at the same time the mention of the availability of the ACA Monograph on the translation of his fundamental papers.

Please permit me to correct a small matter of fact in connection with this monograph. I was asked by the ACA publications committee to be the editor of the volume, which I accepted. However, I am also responsible for the translation of Parts III and IV of PPE's papers, while your report gives the impression that it was all due to Hollingsworth. The confusion may have arisen partly from the fact that the monograph is really two books in one cover, the one due to Hollingsworth dealing with Parts I and II, and originally published as an Air Force report, and the other my more recent translation of III and IV. The title page, composed by Marvin Hackert, gives the correct authorship of the translations.
