Honoring Grdenic

The third meeting of Slovenian and Croatian crystallographers was held in an alpine resort in Slovenia, in September 1994. The meeting, organized by the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, under the auspices of the University of Ljubljana and sponsored by the Slovenian Chemical Society was dedicated to Dr Drago Grdenic on the occasion of his 75th birthday. L. Golic (Ljubljana) and B. Kamenar co-chaired the meeting.

Topics of the meeting included chemical, industrial, and biological crystallography and mineralogy. Plenary lectures were presented by: W. Fuller, University of Keele, UK (Studies of Biological and Industrial Fibres using X-ray Synchrotron Radiation Sources and Neutron Beams); T. Schirmer, University of Basel, Switzerland (Structures of Porins: Proteins that form Transmembrane Pores); M. Lui, Institute R. Boskovic, Zagreb (Stereochemistry of Hexanuclear Niobium Clusters) and A. Recnik, Institute J. Stefan, Ljubljana (Analysis of Planar Faults in Oxide Ceramic Systems). 70 participants presented 51 oral contributions. Representatives of Nonius B.V., Molecular Structure Corporation, Philips X-ray International and Siemens AG Oestereich also attended the meeting.
