Czech - Slovak Powder Diffraction Conference

Crystallographers from six countries gathered at the Military Academy Liptovsksy Mikulás near a great lake in the Slovak mountains in October 1994 to discuss X-ray diffraction analysis of polycrystalline materials including solid state amorphisation induced in the Fe-Ti system by mechanical deformation (S. Enzo), texture development in electrotechnical non-oriented silicon steels (M. Cernik), and microdeformations in zinc oxide thin films (P. Sutta, Q. Jackuliak, V. Tvarozek and I. Novotny). Multilingual proceedings (86 pages, ISBN 80-8040-013-x) were provided to attendees of the conference. These annual conferences bring together powder diffraction crystallographers in the region of the Czech and Slovak Republics with the international community. Thanks to the local organizers (Dr Sutta, head of the Department of Physics of the Academy) and beautiful surroundings, the conference was a great success.
