ICSD is a comprehensive compilation of crystal structure data of inorganic compounds. All information was taken from the original sources and was checked to assure high quality. The literature is covered back to 1915. Currently the database contains 35,000 entries. It will be updated with approximately 1,400 new entries per year. ICSD is produced by FIZ Karlsruhe and the GMELIN Institute Frankfurt in cooperation with the Institute for Inorganic Chemistry of the University of Bonn. With the 1993 CD-ROM release the ICSD database will be distributed with the new menu-driven RETRIEVE software. The new program CRYSTAL VISUALIZER (CVIS) which allows the viewing of the ICSD structures as 3D drawings will also be included without additional cost.
