Dear Bill,

Harry Powell is quite right that in Scotland it is spelt "whisky", and "whiskey" in those other less fortunate countries (Newsletter Vol 5 #3,1997). In my original article on whisky tasting in Glasgow in 1999 I did indeed spell the word correctly. However, staff at that hotbed of Irish nationalism, the Hauptman-Woodward Med Res Inst in Buffalo, retyped my article, and whisky was transformed to that lesser, though interesting, brew with a single letter.

Dear Chris,

We tried to whisk our duplicity under the rug, but alas we've been found out.
