Crystallographers may be interested to know that Arthur Bienenstock, who has been nominated by President Clinton for the Post of associate director for science at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, was the first recipient of a Sidhu Award at the Pittsburgh Diffraction Conference of 1957, for outstanding research in X-ray diffraction by a young investigator.
