Nobel laureates

Dear Bill:

Many thanks for the most recent issue of the IUCr Newsletter (Vol. 2, No. 4). I was disappointed at the brevity of the paragraph on page 4 reporting the winners of the 1994 Physics Nobel Prizes. Most importantly, please note that the Canadian prize-winner (my thesis advisor) is Bertram Brockhouse (not Brockhaus), and that he developed the triple axis neutron spectrometer (not pectrometer). Shull and Brockhouse developed neutron spectrometers for diffraction and inelastic scattering respectively, and they performed many pioneering experiments in their respective fields. I hope you will be able to include a proper article (or articles) about these scientists in a future issue.

John R. D. Copley, NIST

A proper article on the new laureates will appear in a future issue.
