Harold P. Klug (1902-1994)

Harold P. Klug died October 8, 1994 at the age of 92. Klug was a charter member of the American Crystallography Association, an early organizer of the fledgling Pittsburgh Diffraction Conference, and a US delegate to the founding Congress of the International Union of Crystallography in 1948.

His researches included early determinations of the crystal structures of several elements, studies of metallo-organic structures, extensive investigations into the application of X-ray diffraction to industrial problems. He is best known for "X-ray Diffraction Procedures for Polycrystalline and Amorphous Materials" (co-authored with L. E. Alexander) first published in 1954 .
