Surface Structure Prize

A new prize will be awarded in the field of surface and interface structure, in conjunction with the International Conference on the Structure of Surfaces (ICSOS). The first award is scheduled for the next meeting in this series, to be held on July 9-12, 1996, in Aix-en-Provence, France.

The Surface Structure Prize, worth $1,500 US, will be awarded to one scientist, or jointly to two or three scientists, for an outstanding body of work in the field of surface and interface structure. For joint awards, which will be split equally, the bodies of work must be closely related, such as in close collaborations or competing developments. The awardee(s) will be offered the opportunity to present an invited lecture at the next ICSOS meeting.

Nominations with supporting documentation are invited from surface scientists (self-nominations will not be considered) and should reach M. A. Van Hove before December 1, 1995 at MS 66, Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, Berkeley, CA 94720, USA (FAX: 510 486-4995. e-mail: vanhove@lbl. gov).
