In this, the International Year of Crystallography, S. Narasinga Rao has prepared a brochure intended to help explain to the layperson what crystallography is, what it can do and why it is important in our day-to-day lives. A timeline of many of the crystallographic accomplishments that were honored with Nobel Prizes appears in the brochure. This timeline is reproduced in this issue of the Newsletter (see below).
