ACA Warren Award

The triennial award of the Warren Prize by the ACA will be made at the Atlanta meeting in June 1994. The award, established on the occasion of B.E. Warren's retirement from the Massachusetts Inst. of Tech., recognizes an important contribution to the physics of solids or liquids using X-ray, neutron, or electron diffraction techniques. Works published within a six-year period ending June 30 of the year preceding the Award may be nominated. The Prize consists of an award of $1500, another $1500 in travel expenses to accept the award at the ACA Annual Meeting, and a certificate. Previous winners were: U. Bonse and M. Hart, 1970; J. D. Axe and G. Shirane, 1973; J. M. Cowley and S. Iijima, 1976; F. W. Lyttle, D. E. Sayers, and E. A. Stern, 1979; B. Post, 1982; B. C. Larson, 1985; R. J. Birgeneau and P. M. Horn, 1988; and J. Jorgensen, 1991.

Nominations are invited from throughout the crystallographic communiry and may be made regardless of the nationality, race, sex, religion, or affiliation of the nominee or the country in which the work was done. Nominations may be submitted to the Chair or any member of the Awards Committee. The major contributions made by the nominee to diffraction physics should be identified with supporting documentation.
