Intensive Course in X-ray Structural Analysis of Small and Medium Sized Molecules

This IUCr supported course in X-ray Structural Analysis of Small and Medium Sized Molecules to be held in Birmingham, UK, Mar. 22-28, 1993, is aimed at young postgraduate and postdoctoral chemists, biochemists; and physicists who need to perform X-ray analyses as part of their research, but have had only modest formal training in the techniques. The intention is to foster standards of technical excellence through lectures and demonstrations covering both the theoretical background to, and the practical applications of, modern techniques.

The course will be at Aston U. and will cover data collection and processing, structure solution and refinement, and analysis of results. The number of participants will be strictly limited to 65. A number of applicants had to be turned down the last time the course was offered. Twenty-five places are ear-marked for SERC students, the remainder are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Students from abroad should have a good understanding of spoken English. Some grants are available for postgraduate students.
