Dear Bill,
Alas, your quiz on Presidents and locations has a mistake and a faux-pas. Bernal was indeed President of IUCr 1963-66, but to quote from the Minutes of the Seventh General Assembly held in Moscow, "About a month before the opening of the General Assembly, Prof. J. D. Bernal had resigned as President, and his place was taken by the Senior Vice President, Dame Kathleen Lonsdale." I should know. As retiring President, 1966-69, Kathleen gave marvelous support to Geert Boom as General Secretary and myself as Treasurer.
J. M. Bijvoet hailed from the Netherlands, not France.
